Happy Friday everyone!
I am pleased to share a recent self-portrait project I have been working on.
My intentions for this shoot were this:
1. To FINALLY get a few decent pictures of myself for my About Me page on this site. As a photographer, I really like being BEHIND the lens, capturing all the beauty I see. As much as I enjoy NOT having to be IN photos, I knew it would be a cool opportunity to dress up and get some good pics of myself…
2. My photog friend Joanna brought up a great point about the importance of photographers ‘getting’ what it feels like to be the Subject. As weird & uncomfortable as I felt, it was interesting to be in front of the lens and it ended up being really fun!
3. Before I get too ‘old’ (whatever that means), I wanted to live out some childhood fantasies. I have mad love for flowing ball gowns, twirling, crowns & anything glittery. I cant get enough of the gold gown I used for this shoot. I bought it years ago and often wear it while doing housework. (haha!)
All in all, the day was a complete success. I sported three looks and had a ball exploring the forest, frolicking with the deer and dodging puzzled glances from runners & bikers. I even made my own lace crowns to use. They turned out super cute! ***I made some cute little newborn sizes too! <wink, wink, baby shoot anyone?>***
As picky as I can be when I get my picture taken, I adored the end results. AND, when i’m old and gray, I’ll always remember that time I got to be “A Princess for a Day”.
The sky’s the limit here at Roots of Life. If you can dream it, I can make it happen…
